The Art Of Expressing Love For Your Elderly Family Members

By | Hospital Beds, Porch Lifts, Stair Lifts, Wheelchairs | February 14, 2018 | Comments (0)

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! While today is a day when many romantic couples express their love for each other by offering gifts and going out on dates, it’s important that we all remember that there should be plenty of love to go around. Naturally, there are other types of love that exist.

Parents love their children.

Children, of course, love their parents as well. And when those parents reach the later stages of their lives, they need all the love they can get! At LifeCare Mobility Solutions, we’d like to take this opportunity to send our love to all of our clients and their family members. We swell with pride knowing that the majority of our products are bought with love as a top factor for the purchases.

And while we are very proud of the fact that our mobility solutions help to bring greater senses of independence to the lives of elderly individuals in the Greater Toronto Area, we know that they represent just a small fraction of the love that can be shown them. Loving your elderly parents or grandparents is more than providing them with mobility solutions that make their lives easier.

Showing love requires your time.

This is especially important if you don’t live with your elderly parents. “Visit them as frequently as possible and make an effort to take them to concerts or community festivals they may enjoy,” advises AssistingHands.com, “Remember that these do not have to be expensive affairs – cities often offer free arts events during the summer months. So, grab a few lawn chairs and enjoy their company while listening to music.”

You also want to make sure to not leave them out of important events that are taking place. They include birthdays, graduations and holiday celebrations where all family members are expected to participate. Keeping your elderly loved ones involved in the goings-on of your family affairs is hugely important for their emotional well-being. It’s every bit as important as their physical well-being.

Seniors like to feel needed.

“Sometimes there might be events or activities grandparents would be interested in attending,” Katie Nielsen reminds us on FamilyShare.com, “Depending on the distance between you and the grandparents, consider inviting them to graduations, award ceremonies, and concerts you or your family members participate in. Grandparents also like to feel needed, so if you need help moving or want help with the kids, don’t hesitate to invite them to help in whatever way they can.”

As mentioned, looking after both the emotional and physical well-being of your elderly loved ones is a true expression of your love for them. And, as always, the LifeCare Mobility Solutions team wants to help you to do just that!
